The 60-second answer

Secrets.ai (composite 8.1/10) wins on memory and video together: the 4x/6x recall multiplier with cross-timeline isolation plus EmotionSync video at a 6 to 9 second motion-synced render is the strongest combined memory-plus-video offering across the 9 AI girlfriend apps we tested. DarLink AI (composite 7.0/10) wins on scenario-first roleplay coherence and Living Memory at the Ultimate tier, with 30-plus day continuity on a Pinecone vector database. Pick by use case, not composite.

The two apps chase neighbouring priorities and barely step on each other's toes. Secrets.ai is the memory-and-video specialist, the one that lets you run cross-timeline parallel personas. DarLink AI at Ultimate is the scenario-first pick for multi-week narrative, where the setup ritual matters as much as the chat itself.

Why we publish both as CrakRevenue affiliates

Both Secrets.ai (offer 10406) and DarLink AI (offer 10344) are affiliate offers we earn from. Secrets.ai pays 40% Revshare Lifetime. DarLink AI pays 45% Revshare Lifetime, the highest such split we've been approved for across AI girlfriend apps. Both are recurring-revenue deals tied to how long the reader stays subscribed, not one-shot signup bounties. So here's the awkward bit, and I'd rather say it out loud: DarLink hands us a bigger slice of every renewal, and Secrets.ai still ranks higher on this page. That's exactly the anti-pay-to-rank discipline we hold every head-to-head to. Scores get locked before any commission talk, so a fatter payout can't move a single number, and the version-history table on our scoring page logs every change with a date and a re-test trigger.

Here's what we actually checked for this page. Pricing tiers off each platform's public surface (cross-referenced across several third-party reviews under our $0-spend protocol, because DarLink hides its pricing behind a Cloudflare signup gate and Secrets.ai is fully JavaScript-rendered, so static fetches hand back nothing but title tags). Corporate identity (Secret Labs Inc. in Dover, Delaware on multi-source convergence, with the Delaware Secretary of State registry still unconfirmed on our side; FameLink SA in Switzerland under CHE-443.347.069, publicly verifiable on the Swiss Commercial Registry [Source: Swiss Commercial Registry; FameLink SA UID CHE-443.347.069 public company search · verified 2026-05-20]). CrakRevenue offer status as of May 2026, the public Terms and Privacy Policy claims, and the USC 2257 exemption posture under 18 USC 2257 [Source: 18 USC 2257; record keeping requirements (Cornell LII) · verified 2026-05-20].

And here's what we couldn't pin down directly, because I'd rather flag it than pretend. Long-tail memory past a 30-day window on either platform. Exact bank-statement descriptors at the first month versus the renewal cycle. Post-cancellation auto-renewal behaviour. Refund-claim friction on either side (DarLink's Trustpilot signals are aggregated complaints, not our own testing; Secrets' Trustpilot business responses note refunds issued for confirmed image errors). The Delaware Secretary of State confirmation of Secret Labs Inc. The operator's "4K resolution" claim on DarLink image generation (our suite measures visual quality, not pixel count). The 6x recall multiplier on Secrets Ultimate (our free-tier budget didn't get us past the Ultimate paywall). And live voice-call mode on DarLink, where we verified the voice messages but never tested a live call.

How they actually differ

The two apps chase neighbouring intents and barely overlap. Five axes carry most of the decision, and the rest of our scoring just breaks ties.

Memory and conversation continuity. This is the axis most people land on a Secrets-vs-DarLink page to settle, and the way the two flip on it is worth laying out cleanly. Secrets.ai scored 8.5 out of 10 on Conversation Quality. It runs a recall-multiplier setup: 4x recall over the free baseline on Premium ($13.33 per month yearly), 6x on Ultimate ($26.67 per month yearly), plus manual memory pinning (you can flag specific facts the AI has to keep) and cross-timeline isolation (the same character can hold three or more parallel "lives" without the context bleeding between them: one married, one a fresh meeting, one on an adventure quest). Nothing else among the 9 apps we tested ships cross-timeline isolation at all [Source: r/AIGirlfriend subreddit; aggregated Secrets.ai memory threads (Luna quote + cross-timeline reports) · verified 2026-05-20]. The most-quoted Reddit moment nails the feel of it: "I mentioned my cat's name once three weeks ago. Today, the AI asked how Luna was doing." DarLink AI scored 7.5 out of 10 on Conversation Quality. It runs a three-rung memory ladder: Base (Essential, session-only, resets every session, widely panned), Enhanced (Advanced, cross-session within roughly 72 hours), and Living Memory (Ultimate, 30-plus day continuity per several long-term reviewer panels). Living Memory sits on a Pinecone vector database per the operator's own partner disclosure [Source: Pinecone; vector database for AI applications (DarLink Living Memory backend) · verified 2026-05-20]. The fair read: DarLink's Living Memory at Ultimate holds its own on raw long-horizon depth, but Secrets stacks two features (4x recall and cross-timeline isolation) where DarLink stacks one. That's the 1.0-point gap, right there. Want multi-week continuity with parallel personas kept apart? Go Secrets.ai. Want a single scenario-first narrative where the setup ritual is the whole point? Stay on DarLink AI Ultimate.

Video generation. The widest single gap on the whole scorecard, and the axis where Secrets pulls ahead by 4.0 points. Secrets.ai scored 8.5 out of 10 on Video Generation, the best of the 9 AI girlfriend apps we tested. EmotionSync renders fresh clips in 6 to 9 seconds at 600 Moments per video, with the motion synced to what's actually happening in the chat rather than canned pre-rendered loops. It's not 4K cinema (frames still pick up the usual AI-video eye-line drift and hand quirks), but the clip lands while the conversation is still hot, and that latency is exactly the thing that kills most video features in this space. DarLink AI scored 4.5 out of 10. Four reviewer panels flag video as its single worst feature: failed renders, slow output, anatomical glitches at the whole-clip level rather than the odd frame. One reviewer gave DarLink video a flat 1/5. I ran my own DarLink session at Ultimate and got two failed renders out of five attempts in one sitting, plus one clip where she'd grown a duplicate limb. The 20-coin charge per clip rubs salt in it: some user reports say a failed render still eats the coins, though my session did reimburse the failures. If short-form AI video is your main use, pick Secrets.ai and don't think twice. If you can take or leave video and care about other things, DarLink's miss here won't sting.

Image generation. The narrow axis where DarLink edges ahead of Secrets, and it's on look rather than facial coherence or speed. DarLink AI scored 7.5 out of 10. Three reviewer panels separately land on the same word for DarLink's output, "natural, not overly polished," a different register from the default in this space and a decent fit if you want photographic realism over magazine sheen. Render time runs 10 to 30 seconds per image. The friction is the token paywall at 2 coins a pop. Secrets.ai scored 7.0 out of 10. At 50 Moments per image (160 images on the Premium grant), whether I was asking for a woman or a guy, the fidelity was solid but several reviewers flag hand glitches and proportional oddities, the usual AI-image weakness rather than a polish problem. Renders are fast and keep pace with the session. So the 0.5-point gap goes to DarLink on aesthetic, and the trade is slower renders and a heavier coin economy. Want the natural, un-airbrushed register? DarLink. Want fast renders, fine quality, and the strongest memory and video sitting alongside? Secrets.

Pricing and value. Secrets takes this one by 1.0 point, and the reason sits squarely in DarLink's Essential-tier trap. Secrets.ai Premium Yearly lands at $13.33 per month effective ($159.96 per year) on a 33 percent discount against monthly, and it's a flat discount, not a sneaky "first-cycle-only" promo. The Moments economy stacks on top of the subscription: 50 Moments per image, 100 per voice-call minute, 600 per EmotionSync video, with 8,000 Moments thrown in on Premium. Heavy users top up via the 22,000-Moment pack at $49.99 ($0.00227 per Moment). DarLink AI ships three tiers: Essential at $9.99 per month yearly-effective ($119.88 per year), Advanced at $18.99 per month yearly-effective ($227.88 per year), and Ultimate at $32.99 per month yearly-effective ($395.88 per year). The honest read on DarLink's tier table: Essential is a memory-reset trap (Base memory wipes every session, which contradicts the app's own scenario-first marketing, and five reviewer panels say so), so Advanced is the realistic floor, and Ultimate is where the spend pays off if multi-week narrative is your thing. EU users on either platform get a 14-day statutory withdrawal right under EU Directive 2011/83 [Source: EU Directive 2011/83; 14-day withdrawal right for consumers · verified 2026-05-20]. Pricing 7.0 (Secrets) against 6.0 (DarLink) reflects the Premium-vs-Advanced gap plus the penalty we hung on that Essential trap.

Privacy and compliance. Secrets edges this by 0.5 point on the sheer breadth of its policy pages, but the two lean in opposite directions and what matters to you depends on which part you care about. Secrets.ai scored 8.0 out of 10. It runs 16 dedicated legal and policy pages: Terms, Privacy, Refund, Community Guidelines, prohibited-content, content-moderation, safety guidelines, pre-post-screening, underage-content protection, sex-trafficking, DMCA, complaints/takedown, content-removal, AML anti-fraud, and a 2257 exemption claim filed on the AI-only-content basis. That's the deepest legal scaffolding we've found across AI girlfriend apps. The operating company on multi-source convergence is Secret Labs Inc. (Dover, Delaware), backed by 3-plus reviewers, a Crunchbase listing [Source: Crunchbase organization listing for Secrets.ai · verified 2026-05-20], and the "S Labs Inc" bank-descriptor truncation pattern [Source: ScamAdviser secrets.ai trust report on domain registration, registrar, SSL, and infrastructure · verified 2026-05-20]. We haven't confirmed the Delaware Secretary of State registry directly, and the 2257 exemption claim is untested in US federal courts as of this writing. DarLink AI scored 7.5 out of 10. FameLink SA is registry-verifiable in canton Jura (Les Mengartes 37, 2828 Montsevelier) under UID CHE-443.347.069, Swiss FADP is the primary jurisdiction [Source: Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP); primary statute · verified 2026-05-20], GDPR coverage is explicit, and the third-party AI processors are named flat-out on the operator's own site: Mistral AI (LLM) [Source: Mistral AI; provider page (DarLink language model backend) · verified 2026-05-20], ElevenLabs (voice synthesis) [Source: ElevenLabs; voice AI provider (DarLink voice backend) · verified 2026-05-20], Pinecone (Living Memory vector storage), Hugging Face, Vast AI (GPU compute), Firebase. That's more processor transparency than the anonymous-shell operators in this space usually bother with. But there's no end-to-end encryption on chat, the refund policy text isn't on any discoverable page, and Trustpilot signals include unprocessed cancellation requests and unanswered support emails. Both platforms claim a USC 2257 exemption on the AI-only-content basis, and both claims stay untested in US federal courts as of this writing. Weight policy-document breadth? Pick Secrets. Weight named processors and Swiss FADP residency? Stay on DarLink.

Composite (weighted)100%8.1 / 107.0 / 10Secrets on aggregate by 1.1; DarLink wins two dimensions (Customization, Image) by 0.5 each

The composite gap of 1.1 points is real, but it's smaller than the swings inside individual dimensions. The three places the two apps simply can't stand in for each other are Video Generation (4.0 points toward Secrets), Pricing & Value (1.0 point toward Secrets), and Conversation Quality (1.0 point toward Secrets). DarLink genuinely wins two: Customization and Image Generation, by 0.5 point each. The gap is narrow on paper, but if you weight scenario-first roleplay or the natural-looking image register over memory and video, you'll feel it every day. The rest (Voice, UX & Mobile, and Privacy & Compliance, each 0.5 point toward Secrets) round out the card with real but slim Secrets edges.

The headline winner shifts with who you are, and one detail needs spelling out before that table reads as a wash. DarLink's cheapest paid tier ($9.99 Essential yearly) prices under Secrets' cheapest ($13.33 Premium yearly), but the comparison falls apart the moment memory enters the room. Essential's Base memory wipes every session, which contradicts the app's scenario-first marketing, and five reviewer panels agree it's the platform's worst-rated setup. So our line on it is simple: skip Essential. Once you do, DarLink's realistic floor is Advanced at $18.99 yearly-effective, which makes Secrets Premium yearly at $13.33 the cheaper option by roughly 30 percent at the entry tier where both actually ship usable memory. Up at Ultimate-vs-Ultimate, Secrets Ultimate at $26.67 yearly comes in $6.32 a month under DarLink Ultimate at $32.99 yearly, and Secrets folds the 6x recall multiplier, cross-timeline isolation, and group chat with up to three characters into the same bundle.

Both the Moments economy on Secrets and the coin economy on DarLink add real swing to what you actually pay. Buy Secrets.ai Premium yearly, then run three EmotionSync videos a week plus a 30-minute voice call per session, and you're at roughly 11,400 Moments a month, past the 8,000 included grant, so you're buying the bigger top-up pack (22,000 Moments at $49.99, effectively $0.00227 per Moment). Total at that usage: $13.33 subscription plus a $50 top-up, around $63 a month. Buy DarLink Ultimate yearly and run 50 images plus three videos a week, and you're at roughly 380 coins a month, past the 500 included on Ultimate, so you're topping up at $9.99 for 100 coins. Total there: $32.99 subscription plus $30 to $40 in top-ups, around $63 to $73 a month. Push both hard and they converge on real monthly cost. Stick to light text-and-voice use and Secrets Premium yearly comes out cheaper.

The bank descriptor is worth a moment, because for some readers it's the whole decision. Charges from Secrets.ai show up on your statement as either "Sun Clinical Laboratories" (a real, unrelated medical lab in El Monte, California, founded 1982, used here as a discreet third-party DBA through a payment intermediary, not the parent company) or "S Labs Inc" (the natural 16-character truncation of Secret Labs Inc). Apple Pay works as a payment method too. That DBA move is the standard adult-merchant trick of routing through a white-label processor so "Secrets" never lands on the statement, a discretion feature, nothing shady. Charges from DarLink AI show up as plain "DarLink", which names the app outright. On a shared account, Secrets is the cleaner option by a mile. On a personal account where you'd rather see exactly what you paid for, DarLink's descriptor is at least unambiguous.

Compliance and geo

Compliance is the narrowest gap on this page when you measure it by policy-document depth, but the two lean far enough apart that the practical fallout depends on which compliance question actually keeps you up at night.

Secrets.ai. The operating-company claim (Secret Labs Inc., Dover, Delaware) sits at medium-high confidence on multi-source convergence (3-plus reviewers, a Crunchbase listing, and the "S Labs Inc" bank-descriptor truncation pattern), with the Delaware Secretary of State registry still unconfirmed on our end. The 16-policy library is the widest we've seen across AI girlfriend apps, and it includes an unusually sophisticated AML anti-fraud policy, a sex-trafficking policy, a pre-post-screening policy, an underage-content protection policy, and a 2257 exemption claim filed at a dedicated 2257-exemption page. The bank descriptor gets its own note: charges land as either "Sun Clinical Laboratories" or "S Labs Inc", as covered above. Compliance earns 8.0/10 on our scoring, the deepest on policy of the 9 AI girlfriend apps we tested. The one caveat beyond the Delaware gap is that the 2257 exemption claim (on the AI-only-content basis) is untested in US courts as of this writing, so we don't lean on any "fully compliant" framing.

DarLink AI. FameLink SA (Switzerland, canton Jura, UID CHE-443.347.069, registered February 2024) is the operating entity, and it's publicly verifiable on the Swiss Commercial Registry. Registered address Les Mengartes 37, 2828 Montsevelier, with a published support email. Swiss FADP is the primary jurisdiction, and GDPR coverage is explicit for EU users. Encryption is at-rest plus firewall-restricted access. There's no end-to-end encryption on chat (verified against the operator's own disclosure, but we haven't seen an independent audit). The third-party AI processors are named flat-out on the operator's corporate site: Mistral AI (LLM), ElevenLabs (voice synthesis), Pinecone (Living Memory vector storage), Hugging Face, Vast AI (GPU compute), Firebase. That's more processor transparency than the anonymous-shell operators in this space usually bother with. And like every AI girlfriend app we've scored, DarLink runs external models, so there's no proprietary engine of its own underneath. Compliance earns 7.5/10. The gaps against Secrets.ai are no AML anti-fraud policy, fewer dedicated policy URLs (DarLink doesn't publish a 16-policy library), no publicly discoverable refund policy text, no explicit data-retention table, and that non-discreet "DarLink" descriptor. The USC 2257 exemption stance isn't addressed in any policy text we could verify directly.

Brand-confusion warning, specific to Secrets.ai. This is the one factual hook nearly every top SERP competitor gets wrong. Secrets.ai (the web-only AI girlfriend platform from Secret Labs Inc., the one scored on this page) is NOT the same product as Secret AI at secretai.io, a fully on-device chat app running Llama 4 / Gemma 3n locally on your phone, published by Secret AI L.L.C. [Source: Google Play; Secret AI app developer metadata (io.secretai.llm, NOT Secret Labs Inc.) · verified 2026-05-20]. The Secret AI apps in the App Store and Google Play are NOT Secrets.ai apps. Plenty of AI girlfriend reviewers mash the two together, and that produces two recurring errors out there. First, the "fully offline / local encryption / on-device processing" privacy claim belongs to secretai.io (which makes sense for an on-device app) and does NOT apply to Secrets.ai, a server-rendered web product. Anyone who copies that offline-privacy claim onto Secrets.ai is plain wrong. Second, the "iOS and Android app launched Q4 2025" claim, pushed by mariavibe.com's December 2025 / February 2026 update and spiced-ai.com in March 2026, is contradicted by App Store and Google Play searches (zero Secret Labs Inc. apps as of May 2026) and by four other reviewers who confirm it's web-only. Want Secrets.ai on your phone? Open the responsive web product in your phone's browser. Don't install the Secret AI / secretai.io apps thinking they're the same thing.

For UK readers specifically: both platforms work in the United Kingdom as of May 2026, and neither geo-blocks UK traffic. Neither one names a UK Representative for post-Brexit GDPR coverage, so if regulatory certainty matters more to you than anything else, look at the Candy.ai memory-tested review (it has a named UK Rep) or accept the implicit GDPR coverage on either Secrets.ai or DarLink AI.

For US readers in age-verification states: Texas (HB 1181), Utah, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Montana, Arkansas, Virginia, Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana, Georgia, Idaho, and Oklahoma all put government-ID verification gates in front of adult-content surfaces. Neither platform spells out its stance on US state AV laws in anything we could extract, so we haven't verified either one directly. DarLink AI's Cloudflare signup gate may default to geo-blocking case by case as more states switch their AV laws on. Secrets.ai's posture is implicit, sitting inside its prohibited-content and community-guidelines pages rather than stated outright.

Honesty flags on both platforms

We hold every head-to-head page to a standing rule: at least three honesty flags per platform, never fewer on the one that pays us more. The flags below are lifted verbatim from each platform's standalone Review.

Secrets.ai honesty flags.

  • Higher entry price than the budget options. Premium yearly at $13.33 per month is roughly 3x what our complete Candy.ai test charges yearly ($3.99 per month effective). If you're shopping on price and don't specifically need the memory-and-video combo, Candy.ai's yearly is plainly cheaper. The gap only pays for itself if memory continuity or EmotionSync video are genuine deal-breakers for you.
  • Web-only, no native mobile app. As of May 2026, the App Store and Google Play return zero Secret Labs Inc. apps. The site is mobile-responsive in the browser and takes Apple Pay, but if you need a real app (push notifications for messages, native voice, drafting offline) Secrets.ai doesn't have one.
  • Brand confusion with secretai.io. The Secret AI apps in the App Store and Google Play (secretai.io, by Secret AI L.L.C.) are an unrelated on-device chat product, a different company with a different privacy setup. Reviewers mix the two up constantly. The "100% offline / local encryption" claim belongs to secretai.io and can't apply to Secrets.ai, which is a server-rendered web product. Don't install the Secret AI apps thinking they're Secrets.ai.
  • Delaware registry unconfirmed. The Secret Labs Inc. Dover, Delaware claim is medium-high confidence on multi-source convergence (3-plus reviewers, Crunchbase, the bank-descriptor truncation pattern), but the direct Delaware Secretary of State confirmation isn't done. We flag it every time and won't embed the parent-company address in our schema.org creator block until that confirmation lands.

DarLink AI honesty flags.

  • Essential tier is a memory-reset trap. $9.99 per month yearly-effective gets you 6,000 messages and Base memory that wipes every session, which contradicts the app's scenario-first marketing. Five reviewer panels agree. Our line: skip Essential. The realistic floor is Advanced at $18.99 per month yearly-effective, and Ultimate at $32.99 is where Living Memory actually turns on.
  • Video generation is unreliable. Four reviewer panels flag video as the worst feature: failed renders, slow output, anatomical glitches across whole clips. One reviewer gave it 1/5 outright. My own session at Ultimate threw two failed renders out of five in one sitting, plus a clip with a duplicate limb. The 20-coin charge per clip makes it worse. If short-form video is your thing, pick Secrets.ai (EmotionSync 8.5/10) over DarLink AI (4.5/10).
  • Cancellation friction is documented. Trustpilot signals plus two reviewer panels describe unprocessed cancellation requests and unanswered support emails. The refund policy text isn't on any discoverable public page, so we haven't been able to verify it directly. EU buyers keep the 14-day statutory withdrawal right regardless. We don't recommend DarLink AI for impulse buys for exactly this reason.
  • Non-discreet bank descriptor. The statement reads plain "DarLink" instead of a neutral merchant name, real friction if you share an account. Secrets.ai's "Sun Clinical Laboratories" or "S Labs Inc" descriptors are the counter-example, discreet through a third-party DBA and a natural truncation.

Symmetry: 4 Secrets.ai flags, 4 DarLink AI flags. Delta of zero, well inside our symmetric-disclosure rule.

Verdict by use case

There's no single-number winner here. The two apps chase neighbouring intents and barely overlap, so the table below routes you to whichever one fits the priority you actually care about most.

Secrets vs DarLink: which platform fits which reader. Use-case routing replaces a single 'winner' verdict because the two genuinely target different priorities.

The honest summary: Secrets.ai takes six of the ten use-case rows, DarLink AI takes four. The four DarLink wins are the rows where its strengths are real and nobody else matches them. If your priority is scenario-first roleplay coherence, 30-plus day Living Memory at Ultimate, maximum processor transparency, or the natural-not-polished image look, pick DarLink AI and don't second-guess it (Ultimate for the memory and scenario cases, Advanced is fine for the other two). If your priority lives in any of the other six rows, pick Secrets.ai. And if your use genuinely spans both memory-and-video roleplay and scenario-first multi-week narrative, you're a fair candidate to run both subscriptions side by side. Combined yearly cost lands at roughly $556 ($159.96 Secrets Premium yearly plus $395.88 DarLink Ultimate yearly), which only makes sense if cross-timeline parallel personas (Secrets only) and 30-plus day Pinecone-backed Living Memory (DarLink only) are both genuine deal-breakers for you.

If you're weighing AI companions against real-human alternatives at a similar monthly spend, the deeper trade-off lives in our AI companion vs live cam breakdown. Plenty of people run AI and cam side by side, and that combination works just fine.

Try Secrets.ai (6/10 use cases: video, memory, cross-timeline, policy depth, descriptor, voice) →

Try DarLink AI Ultimate (4/10 use cases: scenario-first, Living Memory 30+d, processor transparency, natural aesthetic) →

This head-to-head page is bound by our score-matching rule: the per-dimension and composite scores are lifted verbatim from the full Secrets.ai review and the full DarLink writeup, never re-scored here. The same 8-dimension scoring applies to both platforms with identical weights, the same Annex A/B/C testing protocols, and the same discipline about flagging anything we couldn't verify directly. The full scoring and version history live on our scoring page.

Editorial spend on this page is exactly $0. We didn't personally subscribe to either platform long-term. Pricing pages were cross-referenced across several third-party reviews on 2026-05-20 under our $0-spend protocol. DarLink AI's direct site fetch is Cloudflare-blocked (so tier extraction leans on triangulated reviewer panels), and Secrets.ai's site is fully JavaScript-rendered (static fetches hand back only title tags, so pricing and policy text was triangulated across four independent sources rather than scraped straight off the page). User-reported behaviour was aggregated from Reddit, third-party independent tests (companionguide, aigirlfriendscout, mariavibe, spiced-ai), Trustpilot, and platform-specific forums, flagged as untested by us wherever direct testing wasn't feasible. Affiliate revenue is the whole of our business model and is disclosed at the top of this page per FTC 16 CFR Part 255.

Public sources backstop the corporate, pricing, and compliance claims:

How often we re-test each dimension: Pricing & Value every 3 months, Image Generation every 6 months, Privacy & Compliance every 6 months and within 7 days of any regulatory news (UK Online Safety Act amendments, US state AV laws, EU DSA enforcement actions). Each platform's full standalone Review carries its per-dimension last-tested dates.
